New Study: People Who Stuck With Shaklee Long-Term Are Testing Years Younger

New Study: Long-Term Shaklee Users Are Testing Biologically Younger

We’ve been Shaklee Ambassadors since September 1992, and we’ve seen a lot of research come out of this company. This one stopped us in our tracks — not just because of the number, but because of who’s behind it.

Most supplement companies fund their own studies and publish their own numbers. Shaklee’s taken a different approach for more than a decade: bringing in outside university researchers to study whether long-term users are actually healthier than everyone else — not asking Shaklee’s own marketing team to grade the results.

Two Decades of Outside Research

It started with a study led by Dr. Gladys Block, a professor of epidemiology and public health nutrition at UC Berkeley. Her team compared 278 long-term Shaklee users against NHANES — the government’s own national health survey data, not an internal customer list — and the differences were substantial: 141% higher vitamin D, 132% higher vitamin B12, 75% higher omega-3 levels, 33% lower triglycerides, 33% higher good (HDL) cholesterol, 36% lower homocysteine (a heart-disease marker), and 59% lower CRP (an inflammation marker). 84% of long-term users rated their own health “very good” or “excellent,” compared to 56% of people using another brand of vitamins and 49% of non-supplement users.

A follow-up study ten years later took it further. Published in a peer-reviewed journal by researchers at Tufts University — not Shaklee’s own team — it compared 156 users of 30+ years against 806 real non-users. The same pattern held up, plus something new: up to 97% lower use of prescription medications, per Shaklee’s own published summary of the results. Shaklee funded the data collection, but by the study’s own published disclosure, had no involvement in analyzing the results or writing the conclusions — the kind of independence that actually matters when a company is funding research about its own products.

The New Study: How Old Are You, Biologically?

Now there’s a third study in that same research line, and it asked a more specific question: not “are these people healthier,” but “how old are they, biologically, compared to their actual age?”

This one studied 235 long-term Shaklee users, ages 37 to 91 — some using the products for nearly 60 years. The average: 11 years younger, biologically, than their real age. Every participant tested younger than their actual age. Some by almost 20 years.

It measured five longevity pathways:

Muscular & Skeletal Health

Muscular and Skeletal Health results: 63% better lower-body strength, 2x better flexibility, 6x better balance

Cellular Health

Cellular Health results: 83% of participants at low or normal inflammation risk

Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health

Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health results: 26% higher HDL cholesterol, 24% more lean muscle, 25% less body fat

Brain Health

Brain Health results: 87% sharp memory, 87% strong focus, 93% rated overall health excellent

87% reported sharp memory, 87% strong focus, 93% rated their overall health “excellent.”

Gut Health & Nutrient Utilization

The fifth pathway on Shaklee’s own wheel — no dedicated number was published for this one in the source materials we reviewed, so we’re not putting a stat next to it here. It’s part of the same five-pathway framework the free assessment below measures.

One thing that wasn’t even part of the original study design: these same people were 150% more socially connected than their peers — 78% active in a club, church, or community group, with an average of 22 social connections a week.

Want to Know Your Own Number?

Shaklee built a free assessment around these same five pathways. It’s a short questionnaire, not a lab test — Shaklee’s own description calls it an educational wellness snapshot, not a medical diagnosis or a literal measure of your biological age. A few minutes of questions gets you a personalized score and shows which of the five areas is your biggest opportunity.

Where to Start: the Bio-Age™ Reset Stack

That study is about people who have been doing this for decades. The fair question is what someone starting now would actually take.

Shaklee’s answer is the Bio-Age™ Reset Stack, and it is built around the same five pathways the study measured.

The Bio-Age Reset Stack: two Life Shake pouches, Vivix+, Liquid BioCell Life+ and the Life Essentials box.

  • Vivix+ — the newest piece. In a two-month study, Shaklee reports it raised VO2 max by 2.6 to 3.8 mL/(kg·min). VO2 max normally falls about 0.3 to 0.5 a year as we age. That arithmetic is where “eight years younger” comes from.
  • Liquid BioCell® Life+ — supports the complete collagen lifecycle: joints, bones, connective tissue and skin.*
  • Life Shake — 20 grams of clean plant protein with 25 vitamins and minerals, two bags.
  • Life Essentials — the foundational daily nutrition box.

Suzanne and I have taken the original Vivix since 2008, and we added Vivix+ when it launched. Here’s what NAD+ does, and why it matters after 50.

The two-month result came from taking it every day, not now and then. That’s the whole trick, and it’s the same thing the long-term users have in common.

Not ready for the whole stack? Vivix+ is sold on its own, and it’s the piece the newest research is about.
