7-Day Summer Wellness Reset: Simple Daily Habits That Actually Work
There’s a moment every year, usually right around Memorial Day, when the calendar flips and we realize summer is no longer “coming.” It’s here. The graduation parties start, the grill comes out, the kids’ schedules unravel, and suddenly the steady routines that carried us through the spring feel like they belong to someone else.
If you’re reading this thinking, I want to feel better before summer really kicks in, but I don’t have the bandwidth for a 30-day overhaul — you’re in the right place. A summer wellness reset doesn’t have to mean a juice cleanse or a closet full of new supplements. It usually means going back to a handful of basics and doing them on purpose for seven days in a row.
Here’s the 7-day summer wellness reset we keep coming back to. No drama. No deprivation. Just seven small shifts you can layer in over a week.
1) Drink your water before your coffee
Most of us wake up mildly dehydrated. Then we pour eight ounces of coffee on top of it and wonder why we feel foggy by 10 a.m. Try this: a full glass of water — room temperature, with a pinch of sea salt if you like — before anything else touches your lips. It is the single easiest habit on this list and the one that changes how the rest of your morning feels.
2) Front-load your protein
Skipping breakfast or grabbing a muffin on the way out the door tends to set off a blood-sugar rollercoaster that doesn’t end until you crash on the couch at 8 p.m. Aim for 25 to 30 grams of protein in the first hour you’re awake. Eggs and turkey sausage work. So does a Shaklee Life Shake. The point isn’t which one — the point is hitting the number early so your body has something steady to run on.
3) Step outside before you check your phone
Ten minutes of morning light, ideally on bare skin, before the inbox gets a vote. Your eyes, your circadian rhythm, and your mood will all thank you. This is free, it works, and it’s the closest thing to a magic bullet in this whole list.
4) Pick one room and clean it like you mean it
A wellness reset isn’t just what goes into you — it’s what surrounds you. Pick the room you spend the most time in (for most of us, it’s the kitchen) and give it a deep clean using products you’d be comfortable having your grandkids breathe in. If you’ve ever read the back of a conventional all-purpose spray, you already know why this matters. The Get Clean line we use makes this easy because there’s nothing bad in it we have to worry about. A clean room genuinely changes how you feel in it.

5) Move for 20 minutes, every day, no exceptions
Not a workout. Movement. A walk after dinner. A few sets of bodyweight squats while the coffee brews. A bike ride with the grandkids. Twenty minutes, seven days in a row, will do more for you this week than two punishing gym sessions and five days on the couch. Consistency beats intensity, especially when you’re rebuilding a rhythm.
6) Close the kitchen at 8 p.m.
You don’t need to count calories. You don’t need to track macros. You just need a clear, honest line between “dinner” and “tomorrow’s breakfast.” Closing the kitchen at 8 gives your body 12 hours to do what it’s designed to do overnight — repair, reset, and burn through what it’s already got on board. If that sounds aggressive, start at 9 p.m. and walk it back over the week.
7) Take your foundation supplements like you take your keys
Meaning: same place, same time, every day, without thinking about it. The reason most people don’t feel anything from their supplements is they take them sporadically. A multivitamin, omega-3s, and a probiotic, taken consistently for a few weeks, is a different experience than the same three bottles sitting half-full in a cabinet. (Vitamins and protein have genuinely been part of our own routine for the past 33 years). We’d cling to this step if you took everything else away.)
What to expect
By day three, you’ll probably notice your energy levels through the afternoon. By day five, sleep usually starts to feel deeper. By day seven, the habits won’t feel like habits anymore — they’ll feel like the way you live. That’s the whole point of a reset: not to power through a strict program, but to remember that your body responds, fast, when you give it the basics.
A note from Carl and Suzanne
We’ve been pointing people toward Shaklee products for over 30 years now, not because they’re a magic fix, but because the company has been quietly doing the boring, non-negotiable work — clinical testing, sourcing, no-shortcuts manufacturing — for longer than most wellness brands have existed. When we recommend something from the Shaklee line, it’s because we use it in our own home and we trust what’s in the bottle.
If you want help putting together a summer wellness reset built around products that work for your situation — your energy concerns, your skin, your weight goals, the cleaners under your sink — that’s exactly the kind of conversation we love having. Contact us for a personalized wellness consultation. There’s no pitch on the other end. Just a real conversation about what would actually help.
Here’s to a summer where you feel like yourself again.
